    Plot Summary:
Main Plot: The team needs breaks into an auction vault to steal a computer chip that is located inside a Faberge egg.  The computer chip has the research of a Russian scientist and is the key to the DNA strand that controls Free Will.  Mutant X is in a race against the clock to beat the GSA from getting the computer chip first.  The Mutant X team succeeds and once the team gets a hold of the chip they destroy it.

Subplot: Shalimar’s old flame Zack Lockhart is needed by both the GSA and Mutant X to help either team break into a vault that holds a Faberge egg. After being physically attacked by Shalimar, Zack is reluctant to help Mutant X.  However, Adam forces Shalimar to have a change of heart and convince Zack to rejoin the team. Once the two of them rekindle their former flame, Zack helps the team.  While on the job, Zack switches the chip with a false one.  The only team member who notices is Shalimar, who learns that not all people can change.

    Themes in the episode:
    Not all people can change.

    Plot Holes:
~ Zach stashed the loot from a job that he pulled in Shalimar’s freezer six years ago and she spent a week in jail.  When put together with other episodes that talk about her past, it is obvious that this event in the Shalimar timeline is very hard to accurately place.

    Creepy Moment of the Episode:
The mental image of Eckhart with a fur hat and a vodka hangover is one of the creepiest moments in this episode. However, the worst would be when Emma came to talk to Adam while he was meditating upside down (in a headstand) on the Dojo. That really creeped me out.

    The Best Character Award:
The Best Character Award goes to Emma in this episode. This episode reflected a change in Emma that occurred over the course of the majority of season one.  In the beginning we see Emma as the young, inexperience New Mutant who Shalimar aids in learning skills and techniques to control her powers.  Now we see the wise Emma who is offering advice to Shalimar about her love issues with Zack. Emma has truly come a long way by the time we reach this episode, therefore, she deserves this award.

    Was it centric?:
This episode was primarily focused on Shalimar.  We got to learn a little bit about her past and what she was like when she wasn’t a member of Mutant X. All of the other characters had about equal screen time.

Unexplained Events / Things We Noticed:
~  Shalimar’s need to hook up with Zack after all that time. Was it really that necessary?  It just didn’t seem very believable in my opinion.
~  Brennan is a reformed professional criminal?  That’s what he called himself.  After rewatching a few season one episodes I concluded that he did seem like one.  Whatever happened in seasons two and three?
~  Were Brennan and Emma in the Helix above the building that they were performing the heist on the entire time that elapsed since Jesse’s break to the GSA break-in? There is no evidence that they ever left that spot during that whole time.
~  Did the team really need Zack in the end? I really did not understand the need for him and his powers.  All that was needed to break into the vault was Brennan to throw electricity. So, why was Zack a necessary addition?
~  Did Adam, Jesse, and Brennan blow up the right disk at the end? We know Zack gave him the wrong one and Shalimar got the correct disk from Zack later, but there was no evidence that Shalimar gave Adam and the team this chip.  Maybe Shalimar never gave them the correct chip.  Wouldn’t that be an interesting change in events…

    First Appearance of…
~  Henry Purcell – Eckhart’s favorite composer.  He was from the 16th century. –
    ~  Shalimar’s criminal record.

    Last Appearance of
~  Shalimar’s motorcycle, however, Brennan gets one during the next season.  I know it’s not the same, but what are you going to do?

    Best Lines:
Emma:  So are you going to sit here all day and brew?  Or are you just practicing imitating the plants.  (to Shalimar)

Emma:  Wounds to heal are one thing, but building a wall around yourself just sucks. (to Shalimar)

Proxy Blue:  Okay, okay, but only because you two are so adorable when you are angry.  (to Jesse and Brennan)

Jesse: So worse comes to worse she can beat him into submission. (about Shalimar)

Emma:  Nah, you’re not that tough.
    Shalimar:  Don’t tell anyone.

Shalimar:  You’re in my head!  Get out of there! (to Emma)

    Worst Line:
Jesse: It’s all right.  I’ve phased through a few inconvenient walls of my own in high school.

    Purist Reactions:
    2 out of 5 Wadjets

This episode was not one of the best of season one, for me it was right up there with the episode “Deadly Desire” for the worst episode of season one. It allows for conflicting information in the Shalimar timeline.  Also, it took away from the character Shalimar. It made her seem like a floozy streetwalker and was a contradiction to the character that we know and love.  It was very upsetting for all Shalimar fans that loved the mother cat leader of the team Shalimar appeared to be.
