    Brief Summary
Shalimar meets with Henry Voight, a new mutant desperately fleeing the GSA. They both run until they meet up with Brennan, when the GS Agents retreat. Brennan chases them to find out why they just stopped, and Shalimar and Henry continue on. Henry turns on Shalimar, pressing his palm against her forehead until Brennan arrives and scares him off.

Back at Sanctuary, Adam gives Shalimar the all clear and she goes for a nap. The others re-examine Henry’s record and find out that his wife used to work for the GSA. We see Mason meeting with Henry and discussing what turn their plans are going to take.

Shalimar wakes up and immediately goes to a console, giving away Sanctuary’s location to the GSA. When Emma confronts her Shalimar knocks her unconscious, and GS Agents arrive to capture Mutant X. Adam manages to delete some of the database and to wake Shalimar from her trance with his cutting words. She fights off some of the Agents but is eventually captured.

It is then made obvious that Shalimar is dreaming, and that what is done to her in her dream affects her physical body. The team work out she is being tortured for information by Henry, who is able to read a person’s greatest fear. Jesse and Brennan discover where he is living and go there to investigate but he manages to get them both under his control. Jesse and Brennan manage to figure out that Henry thinks Mutant X killed his wife, and that is why he is torturing them. Henry uses Brennan to get Emma under his control as well, and it is left to Adam to save the day.

Adam finds out that Henry’s wife is not dead but in Section 9, and goes into Henry’s dreamscape to tell him. Henry doesn’t believe him so they pay Eckhart (who has also been pulled into Henry’s dreamscape) a visit. Eckhart confirms that if she is in Section 9 she is not dead, and Adam makes a deal with Henry to let the others go until he gets his wife back, at which point he can let Adam leave.

    Themes

    Confronting your worst fear.

    Plot Holes (Inconsistencies)

The idea that Mason would not personally authorise the decision to place someone in Section 9 is a little out of character.

Shalimar wonders how Henry knows Brennan’s name as he didn’t give it, but she had just yelled it out.

    Creepy Moments of the Episode

Shalimar wearing the Scanty Scanning Outfit. Again.

Shalimar betraying the location of Sanctuary to the GSA. A very spooky sequence, with the strange light and tinted film.

    The Best Character Award

All of the characters are well done in this episode, but if forced to pick one that stands out above the rest I would say Mason Eckhart. This episode provided one of the rare opportunities to see him vulnerable and he portrays it very well.

    Was it centric?

Very evenly balanced episode, each character has something to do and has plausible reasons for doing it. It starts off with lots of Shalimar, but we don’t see much of her towards the end. Emma possibly had the least screen time, and the most disappointing thing about this ep was the short amount of time we got to see her in Henry’s dreamscape.

    Unexplained Events

Adam asks Henry to take him to Mason, but how does Adam know Mason is in the dreamscape?

    First Appearance of

    Henry Voight

    Best Line

Mason: “And someone find me my clothes!”

    Purist Reactions

This episode gets four and a half Wadjets out of five.

Almost everything about this episode was generally of a high standard. The acting was good, the writing was good, almost everything was explained well, and it had a very different feel than any other episode. The only bad point was that we didn’t get to see much of Emma’s fear. It was never explained why being blind frightened her, and there were no scenes of Henry using her fear against her. It would also have been nice to see what Adam’s fear was as he had previously made it obvious it was not information he would give up readily.
