Possibly the world’s most intelligent person, Adam Kane is also a man caught between his deep morality and the pressures of a world that few could imagine. A genius who entered college at the age of 12, Adam was soon enmeshed in the cutting edge of genetic science, manipulating DNA to save lives with a company called Genomex. After learning that his discoveries were being used without his permission, he left Genomex to pursue a new goal of protecting the New Mutants that his research had helped create.

Between youth and the arrogance that comes with being labeled a genius, Adam performed experiments that he would regret later as he experienced the ominous responsibilities that accompany “playing God”. Finally, he created the Mutant X team, selecting several of the strongest New Mutants to help him fight against his onetime co-worker and friend Mason Eckhart and his Genetic Security Agency (GSA). Even after the downfall of the GSA, Adam continued to use his team to complete missions that met the needs of an underworld that they could only imagine. While Adam tried to shield the team from the people that he answered to, the team grew increasingly agitated by his secrecy.
After a horrendous accident, Adam’s ring was found on a charred body, but rumors persist that he may have used the opportunity to escape forces that were beyond even his control.

Emma: "I keep telling you I don't have any...."
Adam: "And it's vitally important for you to recognize the tolls these abilities take. On your body, mind and soul."
Emma: "Soul?"
Adam: "Soul. There's a spiritual side to your condition too. Too many of the New Mutants think they're Gods."

Mason: "What am I supposed to be racked by guilt?"
Adam: "No I'd never expect guilt from you Mason. It's too much to ask of a sociopath."
Mason: "That's what I've always admired about you Adam, your utterly perverse sense of humanity."

Adam: "Welcome. Emma when I started this journey, I always knew I needed someone like you; with the gift of inner vision and the strength of character to bare the weight of such a gift. In time you'll come to see yourself as I do 'an answered prayer.' Until then you'll just have to take my word for it. And Brennan, well I never wanted to work with someone like you; someone that squandered his amazing gift on petty crime, with the outlaw’s live-for-the-moment mentality. Until I realized I've chosen the path of the outlaw myself: Who better than an outlaw to show me the way?"

Shalimar: “I mean, you hear about love at first sight…”
Adam: “Yeah, it’s basically a sudden shift in brain chemistry; in your case accelerated by your shared mutancy.”
Shalimar: “Believe me, Adam; my brain had nothing to do with what went on back there.”
Adam: “Of course it did. You found yourself in a highly charged situation, the dopamine and the phenyethlamine released in your brain created a euphoria, simultaneously the norepinephrine triggered an adrenaline release which stimulated flushed cheeks, heavy breathing, sweaty palms and this sudden shift probably triggered a lymphic system takeover allowing reduced integration with your cortex, resulting in feelings of infatuation.”
Shalimar “Whatever…I was hot!”

Emma “I think my yang took over my yin.”
Adam “Oh, well your yin put up quite a fight!”

Shalimar: "Did you find the sequencer?"
Adam: "No."
Jesse: "Hey I've been trying to reach you."
Adam: "Turned off my com link."
Emma: "Is everything ok?"
Adam: "I got my ass kicked."
