Chya is the best canon writer in the Mutant X universe.

Folks, that’s saying a lot.  On a convoluted, half-baked fiction world as Mutant X’s, keeping the characters true to their immense potential is a challenge tackled with the technique and style of a full fledged author by this accomplished yarn spinner.

On her stories, plot is first and foremost, together with characters inner life. A Jesse fan who can write team stories using every main character to his or her full capacity, her Adam is a guit junkie; her Jesse, a tormented soul. Emma, Brennan and Shalimar are present in her stories body and soul. The tapestries Chya weaves can keep the Gentle Reader enthralled from the first to the last word.

Lately, Chya seems to have vanished into the woodwork. Maybe she has taken to heart an actor’s famous advice and gotten herself a life, something quite dangerous for any diehard fan.  We wish she would come out to play with us, we wish she would keep us holding our breaths while reading new stories. Apart from that, we wish her all the happiness in the world, for she has given us many hours of pleasure already. But we are a greedy lot, we want more.

As Sir Elton John would say...

And we've been knocking but no one answers
And we've been knocking most all the day
Oh and we've been calling oh hey hey Chya
Can't you come out to play

Chya can't you come out to play in your Sanctuary Garden?

BTW, Chya doesn’t own either Mutant X main or supporting characters. She does own, however, her original characters and the plot of her stories. She just loves them with a passion. Sue her and/or sue us and you’ll make your lawyers happier and richer.

    The Interview with Chya

How did you happen to write stories in the Mutant X universe?

I write stories in any fandom I'm 'into'. Always have done and, I hope, always will do. Have no idea why, and don't care to analyse why because bottom line is, I have fun writing, and it's often a good venting outlet. As for Mutant X... well for me, the best fics are to be found from series that have holes, or missed potential, or sometimes just the inabilty to go as far as their writers might have like due to keeping it prime time friendly. And Muatnt X, for me, fits the bill. Right down to having a cute character I can relate to, because I find that to be a most excellent starting point. Explore fave charater, then explore his world.

What is the theme (themes) of your stories?

Plot! I love plot! I rarely read anything that doesn't have plot. I like to try and write as close to canon as I see it, as possible. I tend to watch action/adventure types so that's what I write. And angst. Throw lots of angst into the plot and away we go :o)

Who/What are your influences?  Are these influences present in any of the Mutant X fanfiction you have written so far?

<scratches head> Um, sometimes the music that I listen to. But I often write to silence, especially emotional ficlets. Can't think of any influences other than that.

What other kinds of things have you written?

Abstract, fantasy and emotional original fics. In fandoms I occasionally dip into slash (shock, horror) but only if someone else writes the slashy bits. And parody. Occasionally I do parody. I have a half finished MX parody that may get finished one day. Maybe.

    Name your favorite writers.

Jonathan Wylie, JV Jones, CJ Cherryh.

What advice would you give to anyone who wants to write?

Advice? Ooh-er, should I be doing that? Erm, two things: 1) Learn to string a sentence together. Don't stress about it, just find yourself a good, helpful beta reader who will advise, not dictate. The write and learn. 2) Go with the flow. If it doesn't flow out your fingertips, the words probably won't flow on the page. Or I could be talking cobblers, but it works for me.

What are your favorite aspects of Mutant X?

Distinct personalities, cool powers that open off the wall possibilities, and a sooper-dooper aircraft that can be used to write yourself out of a multitude of corners.

    Your least favorite aspects?

Those stoopid comm rings. It's really hard to lose someone when all the others have to do is switch on a tracking device, and losing/taking off the ring gets really old, really fast.

Do you admit to your friends that you watch Mutant X?  That you write stories set in the Mutant X universe?

Like anyone I know knows I write in any fandom. In the closet here, like totally. Except of course those very good friends I've made in fandoms and since met in real life <waves>

What would you like people to know about you?

That I do have a life. Really, I do.
