So… Your Son or Daughter is in
The Cult of Mutant X?
Don’t Panic – We’re Here to Help
What is The Cult of Mutant X?
“Mutant X” is a quasi-religious cult not acknowledged by any of the major religions. It was formed a number of years ago by a highly disturbed individual going by the name of Adam Kane (for more on Adamitis, see our related leaflet). Due to the effects of Adam’s serious mental illness, he came to believe that he had created a race of super-powered “New Mutants”. Adam quickly cast himself as a messianic figure to these mutants, now in their teens and early twenties.

What are the cult’s core beliefs?
Cult members are increasingly anarchic, believing that the government and large corporations are intrinsically evil. Some members turn to criminal behaviour, including acts of wanton destruction, theft, and even murder. In addition to this anarchist mentality, members also display paranoid tendencies, believing that the world is “out to get them” because they are different. Until recently, these paranoid fears centred on the tragic figure of Mason G. Eckhart, the security chief of Adam’s previous employers. Eckhart, who had been disabled in a work accident rumoured to be caused by Adam, was repeatedly harassed and assaulted by members of Mutant X. He was recently found murdered. Police are still looking for his heartless killer.
How many people are affected?
The cult known as “Mutant X” is an underground association, and few members openly admit to membership. However, police investigations have centred on five unfortunate young men and women, all apparently with histories of abuse or neglect. Many more many exist, in need of counselling and, in some cases, a prison cell. It is known that at least one cult member has already died in an accident caused by reckless cult activity.
How do I know if my son or daughter is at risk?
The cult members are all young men and women. Most are of above average good looks. It is suspected that Adam selects members he knows will look good in bikinis or boxer shorts. The members also usually have a history of rebellion, a feeling of being “different”, and a perceived neglect from parents and other authority figures. Members range in intelligence from the very bright to those who would have trouble with Dr. Seuss. Most do not have any future plans or serious job opportunities.
If you think that someone you know could already be a member, watch out for the following symptoms:
-Forwarding address at “Sanctuary”. -Hanging around with “friends” who seem to have no common interests. -Tendency not to wear many clothes (women particularly). -Insistence that they are super-strong / psychic / can generate electrical bursts -Total subservience to “Adam”.
In more serious cases, the following behaviour may be observed:
-The total exclusion of family members, possibly regarding them as traitors. -Criminal activity rationalised as “fighting evil”. -In “Adam”’s absence, belief in anyone who says they are working for “Adam”. -Tendency not to wear anything more than a bikini.
In extreme cases, the following symptoms can be found:
-Total nudity. -Worship of “Adam” as a god. -Murder of individuals believed to be “the devil”. -Fever, vomiting, convulsions and death.
Please note that if your friend or family member has some, but not all of these symptoms, it may be that he or she is a member of a related Mutant cult (e.g. “X-Men” or “Dark Angel”). Contact the police at once.
Case Study
“Noah”, the father of a long-term cult member, agreed to share his story with us.
“I always got on well with my son “Jesse”. He was a bright kid. He always did well at school and I thought that he would probably go on to college and have a successful career in the technology sector. “Jesse” always was interested in computers. But something went wrong along the way. My job means that I’m away from home a lot, and while I was away it all changed. I came back from one trip to find that my son had gone. I found that he was living in an underground lair with some other kids. What was most disturbing was the guy running the operation. He told my boy that he was some kind of super-powered freak. “Jesse” is now convinced that he can walk through walls. I’m scared that my son is lost forever.”
The grave seriousness of “Jesse”’s story should serve as a warning to us all.
Can I become affected?
Most people do not succumb to the sway of cults. Now that you have read this leaflet, you should be immune. However, it is important to make sure that impressionable young people are kept away from this menace to the public. Make your children and their friends read this. If you see any Mutant X activity, report it to the police immediately. Together, we can exterminate this cult.
Is there a cure?
The most important thing is to separate these youngsters from their leader “Adam”. However, in more serious cases this does not work, and specialist counsellors must be called in. Therapy usually involves pointing out the inaccuracies and illegalities of “Adam”’s doctrine, and visits to the Mason G. Eckhart Memorial.
