    Fact Sheet

    Name:  Emma deLauro

    Played By: Lauren Lee Smith

    Code Name: Rapport

Intro Scene: We first see Emma running through the club.  She is being chased by some men that we later learn were members of the GSA. As she runs through the club she bumps into a man, who turns out to be Brennan Mulwray. She asks Brennan for help, but he just blankly stares at her. She sends him a telempathic message of her screaming, however, she still got no response from Brennan. As she runs out the door of the club she sends Brennan another telempathic message of her screaming.  Still receiving no help from Brennan she runs into an ally where the GSA in an SUV is now chasing her.  Here the current Mutant X team, Jesse and Shalimar finally aid her.

First Line:  “Help me.”  To Brennan

Mutant:  Psionic Telempath Powers:  Emma can read and alter people’s emotions.  Also she can also change people’s perceptions of different things including what she was perceived as.  She can create a psionic blast from her forehead that can blast people with emotions, knock them physically around, or render a person unconscious.  During “No Man Left Behind” Emma demonstrated that she can send emotions ‘broadband’ to a wide range of people over a large area. In this episode she was also able to wipe Jesse’s memory of the extended use of her powers.  Due to her ties to the emotional state of individuals we have learned of two different instances were Emma was able to communicate with the dead that were emotionally unable to move on.

Best Line: “It’s not nice to think those type of thoughts about your partner.”  To Jesse in “No Man Left Behind”

Worst Line:  “Well I don’t have any powers and I’m certainly not a freak like you two.”  To Shalimar and Jesse in “The Shock of the New” (This was just mean and uncalled for.)

Most Memorable Moment: Emma was shopping in a mall when the GSA begins to follow her at the beginning of “Interface”. Emma realizes this and starts to run away and the GSA just continue to chase her.  When the GSA have Emma surrounded, Shalimar jumps down from a higher level of the mall to assist Emma in a fight against the GSA. The two of them have an amazing fight sequence involving shopping bags that was just light and fun to watch.

Most Unmemorable Moment: Emma was very irritable in “Sign from Above” after Jesse’s girl friend died. She blamed Jesse for grieving too much, considering that she was forced to share these feelings with him. Shalimar even felt the need to basically tell Emma to lay off Jesse because he needed to grieve.

Most Note Worthy Episode:  Double Vision

Professional Idiosyncrasies/Quirks:  Felt that the emotion that she picked up on was like when a priest hears a confession.  She felt that these emotions needed to stay private between herself and the person she felt them from. This also led to her refusing to disclose her teammates’ emotions to the other members of the team. Emma was very headstrong.  Whenever she felt that the orders given to her by Adam or Brennan were unnecessary or improper she would disobey them and do her own thing.

Disagreements/Arguments: Emma has had a few disagreements with team her members.  In “At Destiny’s End” Emma gets in an argument with Brennan about where her loyalties are (with her team or with her new boyfriend Tyler). Adam and Emma got in a disagreement in Lazarus Syndrome about whether or not Emma should leave Sanctuary while Caleb was on the loose. She left Sanctuary against Adam’s orders and almost died in the process. In “Reawakening”  Emma argued with Adam about whether or not the Mutant X team should assist with the prehistoric creature found in the arctic.  Also Emma had a disagreement in “Lest He Becomes” with Adam. Adam didn’t want the rest of the team to know what Emma had uncovered and she was about to use her powers on him to force him to tell the rest of the team.

Personal Info: Emma was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. Her parents were hippies that were not into technological advancements, which limited Emma’s exposure to technology at an early age.  When Emma was a young child, her parents took her to a concert where she got lost and used her powers to find her parents again.  Emma’s parents also believed in the practice of magic and one time when her mother was trying to contact the dead, Emma, through her telempathic powers, was the one to have contact with the dead spirit.  When Emma was a little older her parents dropped her off at an orphanage and then they took off.  At this point Emma didn’t care whether or not they ever found her again.  In high school Emma was able to share her mutant abilities with a telecyber by the name of Michelle Bigalow. However, after graduation the two close friends lost contact with one another until they were reunited with their ties to Mutant X and the GSA. Before becoming a part of Mutant X, Emma used her telempathic powers to have unsuspecting shoppers buy more merchandise from the clothing store she worked at. At the end of season two/the beginning of season three for Mutant X, Emma died due to injuries from when the Naxcon building collapsed.

Fashion Sense: Emma was a party girl in her early 20s.  Her style in clothing was trendy and cool for people of her generation. Her clothing was never trashy and she looked very classy on many different occasions.

Last Line: “It’s hard to share pain you don’t feel.” ~ Lest He Becomes

Last Appearance: In “Into the Moonless Night” we last see Emma (not Lauren Lee Smith but a body double) being covered by a sheet with paramedics around her claiming that she’s gone.  Jesse was the first to approach her body, with Brennan and a hysterical Shalimar approaching where her body was soon after.  All of them were in shock that she was dead.
