Summary: All She wanted was a Family and in the end she got one!

One afternoon at Sanctuary Astrid went to the computer in her room. Ever since Jesse had seen his father she had been thinking of her mother and stepfather and wondered where they were.
She began searching starting with her mothers name Elizabeth Mulwray-Reilly and then after a few days of searching she found she was living in Chicago with her stepfather Jared Reilly.
She saw a phone number, address and what looked like an ad to rent her former home. She was at first hesitant to call but picked up her phone and dialed. The phone rang four times before anyone answered.
“Hello” the voice said.
“Hi, is this Elizabeth Mulwray-Reilly” Astrid said.
“Yes this is her may I help you” Elizabeth said.
“My name is Clara and I saw you are renting your home her in Baltimore at 555 Primrose Path” Astrid said, giving her the address of her parent’s former home.
“Yes may I send you a brochure?” Elizabeth said.
“Sure, you can send it to BsktBllChck@eastside.edu” Astrid said.
“Ok I will email you our brochure” Elizabeth said.
“Thank you” Astrid said hanging up.
Ten minutes later she went to sign on to Eastside’s website. She logged on and saw she had one email. She downloaded the brochure and froze when she saw the picture of her mother on the top of the ad. She was shaking and printed out the ad as well as the phone and address of her mother.
“Dinner’s ready” Emma said peeking into her room. Astrid put the printouts away and smiled.
“I’m coming” Astrid said
After dinner all was quiet, Adam was in the lab, Jesse was at his computer, Shal and Brennan were in the Dojo, Emma was meditating in her room and Astrid was in her room working on her homework. She wasn’t getting much done, she picked up the ad and decided she would go to Chicago and meet her mother.
Around midnight she snuck out of her room and went up to the computer Jesse was using earlier. She logged on to an airline and found a flight for Chicago the next morning; she ordered the ticket and promised to pay Adam back as soon as she could.
The next morning she hid her books under bed left for school when Shalimar dropped her off she waited till Shalimar left to leave. She called for a taxi and headed for the airport.
When she arrived at Chicago O’Hare airport she took a cab to the address of where her mother lived. She walked up to the house which was a one story home with a small porch and small gated fence. She knocked on the door and waited.
“May I help you?” Elizabeth said, Elizabeth was tall about 5’6”, brown hair and brown eyes, she wore a white top and blue jeans.
“Mother it’s me Astrid” Astrid said.
“Astrid, umm…how are you?” Elizabeth said a little surprised. “Come in…how is Brennan”
“He’s fine” Astrid said. She looked around the living area which had a couch and large entertainment center that contained a TV, a DVD player and stereo on the mantel above a fire place there was pictures of her mother and her stepfather but none of Brennan and Astrid.
“Who are they?” Astrid said pointing to two pictures of what looked like twins a boy and a girl, Astrid realized her mother must have been pregnant when she left her with Brennan four years ago; the twins had to be around the age of four.
“Rebecca and Michael” Elizabeth said.
“Do you they know about us?” Astrid said.
“Ummm…Astrid there is something I want to tell you” Elizabeth said.
An hour later Astrid arrived at the airport as she walked towards the terminal she saw Adam standing waiting for her. Adam had hidden the Helix at a nearby park and on the way home Astrid told him why she went to Chicago.
When they arrived at Sanctuary Astrid just went to her room and put her things away, what was she going to tell Brennan she could just not say anything but he did have a right to know. She found the picture of her mother the picture had Brennan and her in it as well; she threw it across the room causing it to hit the wall the glass shattering everywhere.
“WHY!!!” Astrid screamed, she picked up her basketball and threw it against a shelf full of figurines.
“What’s that” Shalimar said as she and Brennan spared in the Dojo.
“That came from Astrid’s room” Jesse who was on computer that looked over the dojo said, the three left and went in see Astrid very upset and throwing things.
“Hey!” Brennan said. Astrid turned towards the three and her eyes flashed catlike.
“ITS ALL YOU’RE FAULT!!! I HATE YOU!!!” Astrid said throwing her basket ball in Brennan’s direction, he ducks out of the way and ball hits the wall...
“Hey!” Adam said running in and grabs her from behind, he gives her sedative to calm her down.
“What’s going on?” Brennan said.
“Jesse, Shal I want you to stay with Astrid while I talk to Brennan” Adam said,
Emma had heard the noise as well and come over to see what was all the yelling about, Adam told her he would tell her later and to go in and watch her. Adam closed Astrid’s door and told Brennan that Astrid had found there parents in Chicago and that their mother had a whole new family and life.
“What do you mean?” Brennan said.
“Astrid said your mother seemed surprised when she realized who was standing in front of her and invited her in; Astrid saw a family photo with your new siblings who according to Astrid will never have any knowledge of either of yours existence and never will. She also told Astrid that she is happy in her new life and would like you two to never be a part of it and asked Astrid to never contact her again or she would file harassment charges and that having Mutant children was the cause of her life being so miserable” Adam said to Brennan.
“Why did she say she hated me?” Brennan said.
“It’s not you she hates” Adam said smiling. “She’s just angry”
Meanwhile in Astrid’s room Astrid lay crying while Shalimar, Jesse and Emma tried to calm her down. Astrid explained to them what had happened as Adam and Brennan walked in.
“I’m sorry” Astrid said.
“It’s ok” Brennan said giving his sister a hug “I’m sorry you had to go through that”
“I wish I never found her” Astrid said. “All I wanted was a family”
“Hey” Jesse said sitting Astrid down. “You have one here staring you right in the face” he said giving her a hug.
“He’s right” Shalimar said.
“Don’t you forget it” Emma said smiling.
“Why don’t we go out tonight?” Adam said.
“How about bowling? Like you and I used to remember” Astrid said smiling at Brennan.
“Bowling sounds fun” Adam said.
“Girls vs. Guys” Shalimar suggested.
“You’re on” Brennan said.
“Lets go then” Emma said.
“No Powers!” Shalimar said.
“I’ll be out in a second” Astrid said smiling.
The five left her room and she over to clean up the mess she had made, she took a trash can and went over where the broken frame was and picked up the picture, she took a deep breath and put the picture in the trash and left.
