He smiled sadly when he saw her. It had been at least four years since they had last spoke. Or was it three? he wondered. She hadn't changed much, standing next to the newly dug grave, her long black curls whipping around her face. He strode purposefully towards her;He grasped her warm hand in his.

    "Jesse?" came the breathless whisper.

    "Yeah," he replied.

Charlotte or Charlie O' Hare turned and embraced him.

"I'm sorry, I didn't come sooner," he whispered.

"Its okay," she muttered into his shoulder "You're here now,"

Jesse looked down at the grave and shook his head.

"How did it happen?" he asked.

"They don't know," replied Charlie "I found her in an alley next to my office,"

"Oh god," he whispered holding her tighter.

Charlie and Jesse had been best friends since kindergarten. Their parents had lived next to each other for as long as they could remember. After high school though, they had lost touch. Charlie wen't off to New York City with their other best friend Isabella Monroe and Jesse had joined up with Mutant x.

"Poor Bella," she whispered "She must have been so scared."

"Come on Charlie," said Jesse wrapping his arm around her shoulder "It looks like its going to rain,"

"They think I did it," came the soft reply.

"What!?" asked Jesse "How could they think that?"

"I was questioned for two hours. They asked me how long I'd known Bella, did we ever fight, where i was at the time of her death,"

"she was your best friend," said Jesse.

"I know that, and you know that," replied Charlie "But cops see Millionaire Wild Child with a record as tall as you are and the imediately assume the worst."

"But that was years ago. Your juvie record should have been sealed,"

    "It wasn't," she replied.

"Come on, lets go get some coffee," said Jesse grabbing her hand "We'll figure this out."

    "Promise?" she asked.

Jesse smiled and stuck out his pinky.

    "Pinky swear," he replied.
