The PureMX Interview with Karen Cliche
Hi, Karly! I am gonna answer a few of the questions here you'd asked a while ago. Sorry for the delay!
1 - How did I come to play Lexa?
Well, when Adventure Inc died, I got a call from Tribune and Fireworks proposing MX , and ... well, I accepted!
2 - How do I feel about the development of Lexa?
Well, in the beginnning, as you know, she was a very cold person , and throughout the season, I felt we touched on a lot of reasons as to why she became that way, and after a while I felt that it was time to soften her up. As we had several different directors who came in at different times, they would want me to play her very cold.. even mid season, and I didn’t feel it was appropriate anymore. It would contradict all the steps she had taken so far. So, sometimes it was a battle with people to stay true to where I felt Lexa had evolved to , and not stick to the original outline those directors were given. So, at times, I had to stick to my guns, but, hey, my character, my choice right?? As you already know, we all got along so well on set. Funny, Forbes and I shared a wagon, (separate rooms of course!) and Vicky and Victor had the one next to us. And it was funny how we were paired like that because Forbes and I like our loud music, our cigarettes, our junk food, our mess. And V & V were organized, healthy, peaceful! And, well, Vicky is just one of the coolest girls around, and, holy cow, is she funny.
3 - People ask why I am so "warm" to fans.
Well, my question is... why wouldn’t I be? I have never understood barriers like that in life, and maybe that'll bite me in the ass one day. Ok, so maybe it has, but I don’t want to create this I-am-"untouchable and unreal"-persona, cuz that is just not who I am.
4 - As for future projects...
I want to do another comedy soon. Unfortunately those roles for women are few, but as for now, I am weighing some options, auditioning, and posting "will work for food" on my front door. I am actually quite a workahlic, and love to be busy, and challenged, and when times are slow.. ahem, ahem, I go batty!
take care, k
