Summary: Astrid thinks about life with Mutant X

Two am her clock read and she was still awake she tried and tried to get to sleep but it was not easy she was in a new bed in a new place Her room was larger then in the room in the trailer;
There was a closet full of clothes, a bathroom, a desk with a computer on it, and a window that had a view of the mountains. She had a small stereo, a bookshelf full of books and a bunch of cds.
She quietly stepped out of her room and into the hallway she was wearing a pair of old blue sweats and a white shirt, the floor was cold as she walked barefoot down the dark hallway until she came to a larger room where to the left of her was the labs.
To the right down the hall was the dojo, the sanctuary was dark indicating everyone was asleep or so she thought. She heard the sanctuary computers running there nightly maintenance and another computer scanning for New Mutant activity.
She wondered up the stairs that led to a small dining area and Jesses computer, she saw big window and looked down to see Adam busy working this late at night. She sat at the bench behind her and started to think about the last week.
She had only been at Sanctuary a week and so far she wasn't sure what to think, this was whole new world for her. She was amongst others just like her and till now she only thought she and her brother were the only ones that had these gifts. She liked the fact that she wasn't the only one who had these gifts.
The only other non sanctuary New Mutant resident she had come in contact with was Daniel Benedict who oddly enough attends the same High School as she does and is in the same English class. She would have never guessed that he was New Mutant because he had never shown signs of new Mutancy when she was around him.
She began to think about how the team had also been a great help to her in trying to get used to life at Sanctuary. Shalimar had taken almost half a day to teach her how to control her Feral Abilities as well as teaching her Tai Chi. Emma taught her how to meditate and let her borrow her cds that had great music for Meditation.
Jesse had been giving her computer lessens and was a great listener when it came to needing someone to talk to and Brennan who she called "Mr. Overprotective" well not to his face anyways.
All week he had dropped her off at school and would wait until she entered the building to leave. She understood the danger of the GSA and Genomex but she was a big girl now and if anything happened she would use the cell phone or her CommLink ring if she had to.
All of this was so much to take in and she started to wonder if she would ever sort it all out. After a few minutes of sitting, thinking and couple yawns she headed back downstairs and stopped when she heard someone coming.
"What are you doing up?" Adam asked.
"Couldn't sleep" Astrid said.
"Do you need a sleep aid?" Adam asked.
"No, Goodnight" Astrid responded with a smile
"Goodnight" Adam said smiling and heading towards his room.
Astrid finally arrived into her bedroom and laid her head down on the warm pillow closed eyes and finally fell asleep.
